Gillies Cottage is a charming detached cottage full of character which was built in 1905 and just perfect for short or long breaks. The cottage is situated in the main street of Cambusbarron a small quiet village only 5 mins by car from Stirling Town Centre or 20 mins if you take the time to walk by way of the Kings Park Golf Course offering superb views of Stirling Castle and Stirling town.

The flat which is part of the cottage has front door entrance and will sleep up to 5 persons in one large double bedroom upstairs which contains a king size bed plus a single bed. A second bedroom is downstairs and contains two single beds, a cot is available for a smaller person. All duvets, bed linen and towels are included.

Between the sitting room and the main bedroom is a well thought out and fully equipped kitchen with combination microwave, worktop electric hob, fridge, electric towel rail etc. Ironing and cleaning equipment plus hair/drier and the use of a washing machine is available.

Next door is an attractively decorated sitting/dining room with Colour TV, Freeview and Video Recorder together with a selection of video films, Radio/CD Player etc, you will appreciate the picturesque north views from the ever-changing Scottish countryside from the upstairs windows.

At the foot of the stairs is the bathroom with bath/shower toilet plus second toilet and wash hand basin, all have constant hot water, central heating is included to keep you warm on those chilly evenings. A useful feature in the entrance hall is a pay phone for your convenience.

Access to the second floor is by a wide featured staircase decorated with original watercolours, a window looks out onto the secluded garden which you are happy to make use of. The back of the house faces south and catches the sun all day long.

The North View's from the flat provide clear and extensive distant views of Ben Ledi, Ben More & Ben Vorlich and the area known as the Trossachs. For those who enjoy short or serious hill walking it takes only half an hour to experience some very exciting and colourful walks.

For a family outing closer there is the animal safari park at Blair Drummond which is only 10 mins by car. Public transport is conveniently, just a bus stop across the road. Parking is easy right outside the cottage.

Many conveniences are available within walking distance, the village offers a Post Office, 2 Food Stores, a Butcher, Hairdresser, Newsagent and the Foresters Arms are literally only a few yards away.

There are many walks in and around the village in particular the walk up Gillies Hill behind the cottage which invites you to view the superb countryside and the spectacular sunsets to the west are often deep red and very photogenic.

Historical Stirling will provide you, your friends and family with hours to spend exploring, The Stirling Castle, home of King James IV. The Victorian Town Jail, The Guild Hall, Church of the Holy Rude,Stirling Bridge & Wallace Monument, The Smith Art Gallery and Museum  and the Thistle & Marches shopping centre.

Visit the McRobert Centre arts complex within the University of Stirling where a combination of plays, films and exhibitions are held. The University is only 15 mins. away from the cottage and recommended for walks through its ground, view Airthrey Castle while watching the water fowl parading around the loch. If golf is your sport play a round on the 9 hole course.

Stirling as a base is the perfect springboard to most parts of Scotland, Edinburgh or Glasgow are an easy 40 mins. away by car and trains leave every half hour. Excellent links are available to Perth and St.Andrews the home of golf, Dundee and Aberdeen.

Central Region is definitely one of the most exciting areas to holiday in, its steeped in the best of Scottish History this is the land that Rob Roy and William Wallace trod, there is so much to see and your stay at Gillies Cottage will give you the best time to relax, cook your favourite meals and plan the rest of your holiday, Happy Holiday's.
